  • 6 cups bread cubes or ½ French bread loaf
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk of choice
  • ½ to 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup chocolate chips optional
  • 1/3 cup dried cranberries optional
  • Butter for greasing

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the bread into cubes. Place in a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. Add the milk, vanilla, sugar, and cinnamon. Mix to combine.
  4. Pour the custard over the bread cubes. Toss until all of the bread is covered. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes.
  5. Transfer the soaked bread to a greased 8x8 baking pan. Add the chocolate chips and dried cranberries on top. If you’d like, add a sprinkling of sugar.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until lightly golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
