Best Water Trampoline

Looking for some fun for the whole family? Water trampolining may be the answer! As the name suggests, a water trampoline is used in an open water setting like a lake or the sea and provides a broad, flat, jumping platform for water-based fun.

Designed for outdoor use, water trampolines are made from sturdy, heavy-duty materials that can withstand exposure to the sun and salt, as well as the wear and tear of boisterous water play. Water trampolines are available in several sizes and styles and come with a range of different features.

What is a Water Trampoline?

A water trampoline is similar to a land trampoline in terms of how it is used, but it is built to be inflatable like a floating island to be used in a large swimming pool, in a lake, or the ocean. Water trampolines are not only built for fun in the sun – trampolining is a fantastic form of exercise that gets the heart rate pumping and burns calories to keep the body in tip-top shape.

Jumping on a water trampoline requires more balance and coordination skills than a land trampoline as it has the added unpredictability of water movement, so it also promotes better balancing skills. A water trampoline is also safer than a land trampoline as jumpers will fall into the water instead of on land.

Water trampolining is a great way to stay fit and healthy while having fun with the whole family in the summer.

Water Trampoline vs Water Bouncer: What’s the Difference?

Water trampolines and water bouncers have the same function – to bounce and jump on the water, however, they differ in terms of performance and construction.

Water Trampolines

A water trampoline is a trampoline designed to be used on the water. Like land trampolines, water trampolines have springs attached to a jumping pad and an inflatable outer tube and offer great bounce. Water trampolines are usually much larger than water bouncers and provide a higher quality bounce.

Being larger than a water bouncer, water trampolines can support more weight than water bouncers, so they are ideal for supporting groups of people. They do, however, take longer to assemble than water bouncers.

Water Bouncers

A water bouncer has a slightly different construction to a water trampoline in that a series of webbing connects the jump mat to the inflatable outer tube instead of springs. The webbing can’t support as much weight as a trampoline and doesn’t allow for as high of a bounce as a trampoline. They are very easy to assemble and are ideal for a few small kids or teens.

How to Choose the Best Water Trampoline?

There is a wide range of water trampolines on the market and when shopping for one there are several things to keep in mind from what features are included to strength and durability, size, and safety features.

Materials

Most water trampolines are made from high-quality, ultra-grade PVC material that can withstand sun and salt exposure, harsh temperatures, and wear-and-tear from water play. Always check the type of material the water trampoline is manufactured from – better materials will have a longer lifespan and better durability. A good quality water trampoline should have a mat constructed from UV-treated and commercial-grade vinyl and galvanized steel springs.

Size

The size of the water trampoline will depend on how many people plan on using it. Water trampolines are larger than water bouncers so they are ideal for groups of people and can support more weight than bouncers, so can be used by both adults and children. Large water trampolines do require a lot of space and are quite heavy and difficult to move around.

Assembly

The most time-consuming part of assembling a water trampoline is inflation and deflation. An air compressor is usually included in the package which makes things much easier. You will need to consider the size of the trampoline and make sure you have enough space to assemble and disassemble it at the end of the summer.

Inflation plays an important role in the quality of the jump. If the water trampoline has an underinflated tube, it may cause the trampoline to sag in the middle, making it difficult to bounce and jump around and have fun. Proper inflations are the key to enjoying the best quality bounce on a water trampoline.

Built-In Features

Most inflatable water trampolines have extra built-in features that offer even more fun, such as ladders, boarding platforms, ramps, slides, and more. They also have additional handles for grabbing onto the water.

Some water trampolines can be used on dry land and usually have thick vinyl bases for protection against the ground. Check with the manufacturer to see if the inflatable water trampoline is suitable for use in dry land.

Water Trampoline Care

Water trampolines should be set up in at least eight feet of water for safe use. The water trampoline can be anchored using sandbags or rope ties and it should be set up at least 30 feet away from land and docks. A water trampoline can also be set up along the edges of the water using cinder blocks or marine anchors on the floor of the lake. Buoys and moorings also work well and the trampoline should not be set up in extreme water currents.

Storage in Winter

It is highly advisable to disassemble the water trampoline for the winter to increase the lifespan of the product. Before storing the trampoline away, clean any debris from the exterior and clean any algae and other growth from the lake off the bottom of the trampoline using mild soap and water. Let the trampoline air dry before rolling it up and storing it in a sealed plastic container or tarp. Store the metal components in the open, such as in the corner of a garage.

Happy swimming!
